Chinese Community Health Care Association (CCHCA) Deploys Patient Matching Product to Improve Communication and Data Availability Between Care Providers

NextGate EMPI to reconcile patient information across 10 EMRs and new medical group to deliver accurate, consolidated view of care for participating Providers

PASADENA, Calif. – October 10, 2016 – NextGate, the leading healthcare technology company for patient and provider identity management, announced today that it has partnered with the Chinese Community Health Care Association (CCHCA) to implement Enterprise Master Patient Index (EMPI) technology to improve member identification and cross-platform communication. With over 200 members and 100 affiliates, CCHCA is an independent physician association managing healthcare coverage and patient care for 45,000 lives in the San Francisco Bay Area. NextGate’s EMPI technology will enable CCHCA to attach a single identifier to patient records so they can be shared more easily and with greater confidence amongst providers and other team members while providing a source of truth within a longitudinal patient record.

The CCHCA recognized the need to provide complete and more accurate patient data to its provider members in order to enable more informed clinical decisions, reduce duplicate procedures, and engender trust in the available content. With patient data coming from an array of sources, including 10 EMRs and other supporting systems, CCHCA focused on deploying a bi-directional communication infrastructure that could identify the same patient across all systems and therefore deliver a more accurate and complete patient record to care providers.

“We need to be 100% certain that we know what is going on in the lives of our patients across multiple systems,” said Don Brandeberg, Director of Health Information Technology, CCHCA. “NextGate’s patient data matching technology gives us that certainty by identifying records for the same individual, even if local identifiers or demographics are different and therefore not found by basic comparison methods.”

CCHCA gathers patient data into a dashboard from which analytics and care decisions are made. As a result of the sophisticated matching techniques and flexible integration capabilities of the NextGate EMPI, affiliated providers instill more trust in the information provided to them and can deliver care advice comfortable in the knowledge upon which it is based.

“We applaud organizations like CCHCA that take steps to improve the lives of their providers and members by deploying vendor-neutral and proven patient data management technology,” said Andy Aroditis, CEO, NextGate. “In complex, multi-system environments, it’s necessary to review all information, regardless of system of origin, to ensure patient safety and population health.”
